Samsung Galaxy Note 9: a must buy?
First impression reviews are out too!
Just last week, Samsung launched Galaxy Note 9 and it’s already available for preorder! Let’s do a quick recap of the launch highlights then go for a rundown of first impression reviews! Check out the highlight video from Samsung.
The Galaxy Note 9 has a whopping 6.4-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with 516 pixels per inch and a 2960×1440 resolution. And so far the Korean tech-giant calls it their “largest Infinity Display ever.” It is also 1TB ready with expandable memory, but you can choose from 6GB RAM/128GB built-in storage or 8GB RAM/512GB built-in storage.
Audiophiles will enjoy the sound quality from Sspeakers made by AKG with Dolby Atmos surround sound, while the photo junkies get a rear camera of Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP AF and a front camera of 8MP AF. Gamers get the additional perk of the popular game Fortnite as an exclusive on this Android phone.
The Galaxy Note 9 sports an updated S Pen with bluetooth technology, which can help you remotely access presentations or take selfies/photos to name a few perks. There’s also the updated DeX and Knox are also made available for this newest flagship.
For preorder here in the US, it’s currently available in 2 colors: Ocean Blue (the one with the blue and yellow combination S Pen) and Lavender Purple, while the price for the 128GB is $999.99 and for the 512GB is $1249.99
Now for the initial reviews!
Mashable reviewer Raymond Wong gave it a score of 4.5 out of 5. Plus it’s part of the Mashable Choice. Wong writes that Samsung was able to tip the scale in their favor (for now) with a lot of great internal upgrades that affects everyday use such as a phone’s performance. And how they’re able to keep innovating the S Pen too. He also notes that the display is awesome and content looks very clear.
CNET’s Jessica Dolcourt gave this device a score of 9 out of 10 too. She notes that the Galaxy Note 9 specs are top-notch and considers it as “an everything phone”. She was able to test the Coral Blue and Lavender Purple where the colors boldly stand out.
Engadget’s Cherlynn Low gave a 92 out of 100 for the new phablet. She was more impressed by Samsung’s new Flaw Detection feature that immediately notifies if someone blinked on the photo and such. The device is also a multitasking beast according to her with its Snapdragon 845 combined with the 6GB RAM.
Finally, BGR’s Zach Epstein points out that while most changes from the Note 8 to the Note 9 are great, there’s one great con: it’s expensive. Really, really expensive.
