A Screen Protector for Your Phone: Why Privacy Should Matter?

There was a time, not too long ago, when computers were the absolute focal points of most people’s lives. They did everything on it: work, gaming and most recently, social networking; if there was something that couldn’t necessarily be done by hand, it was done digitally, and computers were the prime way to do it.

Many of those functions have been taken over by mobile platforms, and the evidence is clear: mobile gaming is bigger than console gaming in some parts of the world, and plenty of companies have been scrambling to make mobile versions of their more popular business solutions so workers can work on the go to maximize productivity: the majority of simplified versions of complex business solutions and productivity apps designed to make our lives that much easier while we are all on our way somewhere. Why? Mobile is simply more convenient: why take out a laptop for business and/or work, or a console when you can do whatever you need to on the go?

Unfortunately, this convenience has come at a price. One with hefty repercussions for the naive and over credulous… PRIVACY. Whenever you’re using a mobile device in public, you can be almost certain that there will be at least the odd person in any crowd with a certain malicious intent who has developed a certain acquired skill at intaking the various passwords, credit card numbers, or even making himself a VIP guest to the very private conversations you might be having with someone you might be chatting with.

In simple terms, this can be called Visual Hacking. A method of hacking that has been around for ages (you may have almost been a victim of luring your PIN code for your credit card or ATM). Today our phones hold and transfer much more personal information and access to much more information than we could have anticipated a decade ago. People are blatantly leaving the content of their screens exposed. Logins, payroll information and countless other sensitive data about you, your friends and family, and the company you work for. All of that! You need to consider if you are okay with this. Or if you should shield this content from visual hackers. How, you ask? There is only one simple and near fail-safe way of doing so, and that is with a privacy screen protector!

A privacy screen protector shields the content of your screen from everyone except you. Simple as that! This means that you can use your phone or tablet everywhere you go without having to worry about visual hackers – or people finding your choice of YouTube video less funny than you!

BUT HOW DOES IT WORK?
Privacy screen protectors have a special filter (the privacy filter) that allows light to pass through from certain angles. You can compare screen privacy filters with traditional window blinds. Except, the blinds (the filter in this case) are preset to a narrow front angle, letting you see everything clearly, while people next to you are unable to see the content of your screen. All they see is a darkened/blackened screen. In the case of Tech Armor Screen Protectors, the viewing angle is straight on, but not from the sides. In other words: Only you see what you really want to see and no one else.

Privacy filters are an easy way of keeping strangers from seeing what it is on your phone or tablet. And they are available for laptops as well, meaning you can work on your computer everywhere without having to think about anything but working. This is especially useful if you are handling essential documents, emails e.g., working on public transportation. Or just want to browse your device privately.

ANTI-GLARE COATING
You have most likely tried it yourself: The sun is out and it is impossible to see anything on your screen! With an anti-glare coating, light reflections are reduced, letting you see the content of your screen more clearly. This means that you can use your laptop outside when working, something that is practically impossible without an anti-glare coating. Please note, that the screen will be slightly darker when fitted with a privacy screen protector (due to the privacy filter).

BLUE LIGHT REDUCTION
Tech Armor’s privacy screen protectors feature blue light reduction. Blue light has been proven to affect your sleep negatively and disrupt your circadian rhythm. This occurs because blue light inhibits the release of sleep hormones, causing us to become more awake. It is for this reason that scientists recommend that exposure to blue light at night is decreased. And this is where privacy screen protectors come in handy. They can reduce the amount of blue light emitted by your device, which decreases the effects of the blue light. You will still get exposed to it, but the effects will be reduced. Without knowing exactly how much the effects are reduced, it is fair to say that using your phone or tablet at night won’t disrupt your sleep as much when using a privacy screen protector.

Bottom Line? Don’t put yourself at risk in this day of age, invest in privacy screen protector that you can absolutely rely on. Your privacy matters to you, so it matters to us, too, and we are committed to your absolute privacy.

Testimonial: Tech Armor Screen Protector + iPhone 8 Plus vs. Freeway at 65mph!

Testimonial: Tech Armor Screen Protector + iPhone 8 Plus vs. Freeway at 65mph!

We love reading stories about the abuse some people put their phones and tablets through (hey, we’ve all been there).

Your mobile devices are with you every day, so it stands to reason that things go a little haywire from time to time. Over the years, our customer service team has received emails from the TA Nation that detail seemingly horrific events. Crazy things that should have destroyed their screen (remember the riding lawnmower incident???), yet after the smoke cleared, the device lived!

Well, recently Joe accidentally left his iPhone 8 Plus on top of his car and hit the freeway! Normally, that spells death for any device, but he was armed with Ballistic Glass from Tech Armor… we’ll let Mr. Daniels explain:

I have used your ballistic glass and cases for years.  Your products are unequalled by far.  Recently, I accidentally left my phone on top of my car and it fell off at 65 MPH on the freeway.  It somehow got trapped under my car because I thought I had hit something in the road.

Hours later when I discovered my phone was missing, I pieced together what had happened and what the noise I heard must have been.  I tried calling my phone and to my surprise it rang four times before going to voicemail.  I then used the Find my phone app and located it.  I could not believe it was still on and transmitting.  I went looking for it and found it damaged, but still working!  Unbelievable!!

It flew off on the freeway, got tangled up with my car and God knows how many others, it was more than 100 feet from the freeway laying on the side of the road and still working.  I attached some photos.

Great product.

Regards,

Joe Daniels

No, not really… but thanks to premium gear from Tech Armor, it lives to fight another day! The iPhone 8 Plus has a pretty massive screen, so the fact that this was able to take a fall from a moving car on the freeway at 65 mph and still function is a testament to our Ballistic Glass and case technology.

Phone Showdown: iPhone X vs iPhone 8 Plus vs Pixel 2 XL

Phone Showdown: iPhone 8 Plus vs Pixel 2 XL vs iPhone X

Which is the best for you?

Google and Apple released great new phones just this past month! Are you going Android or iOS? Touch ID or Face ID? We’re here to help you out with a rundown of the pros and cons of each!

Display (Battle of the bezels…or slowly the lack of them)

The iPhone 8 Plus has minor screen improvements compared to the iPhone 7 Plus. The screen is a 5.5 inch, 1080p LCD panel, but now includes the iPad’s True Tone technology that changes colors based on the lighting in surrounding. Oh, and this model still has thick bezels around all sides.

iPhone 8 Plus

iPhone 8 Plus

Meanwhile, the Pixel 2 XL uses a Quad HD 2880×1440 panel, which has the OLED benefit of intense black levels. It’s mostly fantastic for this reviewer. Most progress is found on this phone with the smaller bezels like the iPhone X. The screen size is 6 inches compared with the 5.8 inches of the iPhone X…. and they are almost at identical weight.

Google Pixel 2

Google Pixel 2

Apple stepped up its game by using an OLED display with the iPhone X. Though not necessarily a larger display from previous iPhones, just an elongated 18.5:9  aspect ratio.

Where it does stand out is the contrast ratio, power savings combined with the True Tone Technology and it also strikes the best balance between realism and saturated colors. The display can be cropped out because of the cutout “notch” on the top sensor bar which may be a con for some.

Camera

In terms of DxOMark scores, the Pixel 2 XL gets above the rest by setting the new record. It may just have one camera at the back a 12.2MP f/1.8, but has both optical and electronic image stabilization (the front-facing camera is 8MP f/2.4).

This reviewer prefers the Pixel 2 XL as the device knows when to saturate colors and when not to.

The iPhone 8 Plus has a dual-lens camera at the back: 12MP f/1.8 wide-angle camera and 12MP f/2.8 telephoto camera ( no optical image stabilization for either cameras). The front camera is just 7MP f/2.2.

The iPhone X has the same 12MP wide angle camera as the iPhone 8 Plus but the second 12MP telephoto camera is faster and includes optical image stabilization. However, the highlight is on the front camera: the 7MP TrueDepth camera. This technology enables the new Face ID technology and the popular Animoji feature.

iPhone X

iPhone X

Both iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are capable of augmented reality, which is still in its infancy, but promises more to come in 2018.

Hardware/Repair Concerns

The iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are made of glass front and back. And the latter is right now considered as the priciest to repair. It’ll cost you $279 for screen repair and $549 for other damages (like the glass back). The iPhone 8 Plus is not far behind with screen repair at $169 and $399 for other damages. Meanwhile, the Pixel 2 XL’s screen repair is at $220 and for the small glass panel at the back, it’ll cost you around $160.

Drop Tests

The iPhone 8 Plus glass back shattered in just 1 drop. Yikes! While the Pixel 2 XL gets just a few scratches.

And in a face drop, the Pixel 2 XL gets the most damage, shattering the top portion and even missing some glass parts.

iPhone 8 Plus vs. Google Pixel 2 Drop Test

iPhone 8 Plus vs. Google Pixel 2 Drop Test

While in our previous blog, we got to check out how iPhone X will have practically the same result as the iPhone 8.

Expensive but great phones! Though that’s A LOT of cracks in a beautiful screen.

Not to worry as Tech Armor is here to make sure that doesn’t happen! Arm your Google Pixel 2 XL and iPhone 8 Plus with us so you won’t worry about any part of the screen go missing!

And for your iPhone X, we’ve got the best screen protectors and cases to keep all your glass intact, while showcasing that new and awesome phone. 😉

iPhone 8 / 8 Plus: Reviews are in!

iPhone 8 / 8 Plus: Reviews are in!

We look at the reviews and even drop tests on the new iPhones!

It’s been just a couple weeks since the release and lots of reviews for the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are out! Are you planning on getting one or waiting for the iPhone X ? We’ve got an overview of info to help you get started!

What’s great with the 8?

One of the immediately noticeable things is it’s cleaner looking thanks to a glass cover in the front and over the back – giving it a premium glossy look.

That’s about it for the exterior… the rest of the upgrades are mostly found internally. The iPhone 8 contains tweaks and improvements from the iPhone 7 and making it future proof. Same with the iPhone 8 Plus.

Trusted Reviews also comments how powerful the A11 Bionic chip is, which is more powerful than the current Qualcomm high-end Snapdragon chips out there. This is found both in the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, positively affecting its performances.

Another awesome perk you get from both phones is found in the camera. Wired.com reviews that the new camera and chip combined made everything faster and more efficientIf you go for the iPhone 8 Plus, it boasts Portrait Lighting, so your photos are on point!

Both devices are also going big with Augmented Reality combined with iOS 11. But with PC Mag’s experience, better to go with the iPhone 8 Plus for this perk. Overall, this is a safe choice as it’s familiar compared to the upcoming iPhone X.

What’s not to like in these devices?

Most people agree that both phones look quite old fashioned especially since the design has been used for too long (4 generations already). This might be a deal breaker for some people.

Having glass in front and at the back has major cons too. TechAdvisor says it will probably slowly slide off if placed in an uneven surface. While Wired also reviews that just after few days use they already saw a few scratches while using it without any case or such. (Side note: who DOESN’T put a case on their phones these days???)

Drop tests on iPhone 8  and iPhone 8 Plus show in one way or another, the glass material (either front or back…or both really) may crack if the devices fall.

Both phones still do not have the headphone jack and both are considered expensive. The starting price is $699 for the iPhone 8 and $799 for the iPhone 8 Plus.

Speaking of expensive, the glass back is also more expensive to replace than the front one.

Sold with getting either of these devices? But those drop tests though…

It’s all cool as we’ve got your back! 😉 Our screen protectors and cases are good to go for either phone so you’ve got nothing to worry about. We’ve even been featured as one of the best screen protectors for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus! And also on 9to5toysGlass backs may be back on the iPhone but it never the cracks with Tech Armor! 😉

iPhone 8: announcement date set!

iPhone 8: we got a date!

September 12 folks! Set your calendars…

The internet is abuzz as we finally got a date for the iPhone 8! Read on to know more! The day we’ve all been waiting for! Apple officially announced that September 12 is the Keynote 2017 for (presumably) the iPhone 7S/ 7S Plus and iPhone 8 (or whatever it will be called).

Days before, Wall Street Journal may have just confirmed this straight from Tim Cook himself. Contributor at Forbes Gordon Kelly also has the same tune. While TechCrunch is affirming this is the date Apple is aiming for.

Other dates to remember?

With September 12 being right on the money, Mashable hypothesized this will be the timeline based on Apple’s previous launches:

  • Sept. 15 – Preorders will start
  • Sept. 19 – first reviews of the new iPhones will come out
  • Sept. 20 – iOS 11 will be available for download
  • Sept. 22. – iPhone 7S and 7S Plus will go on sale (the new Apple watch too should it be announced in the Keynote)

What about the iPhone 8?

The same site reports that Apple might say it will be available “later this fall”, however BGR says otherwise. They’re claiming it will run alongside the 7S/7S Plus as it’s the only way it’ll hit its target revenue for the month.

Where will it be held?

Apple will be launching at the Steve Jobs Theater, which is still under construction.

There were previous talks that if construction won’t finish in time, they may opt for the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco where previous iPhone events were held.

OK, is the price really $1,000 for the iPhone 8??

No official word yet. But current rumor has it that the 64GB Capacity could start at $999. Then go as high as $1,199We at Tech Armor totally understand that this may bring about a huge dent into your wallet. Even if you choose the possible iPhone 7S/ 7S Plus, that’s still quite a huge amount and that kind of large investment deserves the utmost protection. Good news is we’ve got the just what you need!

For all your iPhone 8 protection needs, it’s all in just one page here!

The Tech Armor Ballistic Glass, Matte-Antiglare and Privacy Screen Protector will be ready! Best to pair that with our upcoming FlexProtect Case too!

iPhone 8 Rumors: more info from HomePod?

iPhone 8 Rumors: more info from HomePod?

That device is a gold mine!!!

More rumors and discoveries are abound with the upcoming iPhone close to knocking on our doors…or wallets to be more precise. Now let’s go head on!

More info from the HomePod

Developer Guilherme Rambo dug deeper within the HomePod firmware code/iOS 11 beta and found videos within on how we might just live without the Touch ID and physical Home button.

The first video he posted shows an iPhone accessing the Control Center by swiping from right to left. Though sacrificing the shortcut to the camera.

The second video he tweeted demonstrates how you can access the app-switcher with swipe up gesture.  Just a little extra: he also added videos displaying how the HomePod can be configured, the Apple TV and Whole House Audio using any device with an Apple ID. Though it makes a lot of sense, it might be best to take it with a grain of salt for the mean time.

Facial Recognition: Apple’s final choice?

This can be considered as pretty sure as the Korea Herald reported the phone will advanced facial recognition scanner plus 3-D sensors for AR applications.

The 3-D facial recognition sensor can sense your face in millionths of a second. It’ll be used to unlock the phone and make payments. And is practically instant too according to known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Bloomberg also showed rumored schematics for the iPhone 8 :

Plus there’s this photo from Slashleaks showing what appears to be the 3-D sensor in the flesh!

Great! So about the price…?

Definitely no going back with the $1,000 price range folksAlright, alright, time to make sure the wallet’s ready for that huge dent! We know where you’re coming from on this. That’s why we want to make sure that no dents, dings, scratches or whatsoever ever comes close to your new device.

For that sweet phone, we will be providing the ULTIMATE AND COMPLETE Tech Armor signature protection! It’s all in one page too! 😉

Best to pair it with Tech Armor’s FlexProtect Case which we will be releasing real soon too! Other than that, we’re prepared for any cable Apple may use. Plus we’ve got the Active Power Series power banks, our car chargers and our new Universal Car Mounts too!

Protecting your device will always be taken seriously here at Tech Armor: so you can keep on playing! 😉

iPhone 8 Rumors: third color and more (thanks again HomePod)!

With just WEEKS away from September, what’s new in the web for iPhone 8?

We’re pretty sure everyone (including us ) really had a blast with the iPhone 8 leaks coming from the HomePod. But for now folks, let’s see what’s new this week! We might get lucky again right? 😉

More info found in the HomePod?

And yes we do get lucky again! The developers who found lots of info from the HomePod last time have more news for us! Developer Steve Troughton-Smith kept digging onto the HomePod and found that the home button in the upcoming iPhone:

Troughton-Smith also discovered metrics regarding the status bar on the edge-to-edge iPhone, including notch height and ear width. Olivier Charavel was quick enough to create a mockup with the numbers. This is what may be expected to be the touch screen part on the upcoming iPhone:

Hold on folks, there’s more! Developer Guilherme Rambo saw codes from the HomePod that the phone will suppress notification sounds when you’re looking at it.

Plus the known coded Pearl ID:

Copper turned Gold?

Known-leaker Benjamin Geskin says the iPhone 8 will only be in 3 colors: Black, Silver and so far Foxconn’s internal name “Blush Gold”. This info was also released from Weibo and will only be sold with 64GB or 128GB.

Though several reports bounce between the phone being color: Copper, “Copper-Gold” and Gold. Then there’s also the term Rose Gold for the same color.

Hands on with a dummy phone

MacRumors got hold of a dummy phone that gives a clear look on how the upcoming iPhone will look like. It’s based on leaks, CAD drawings, etc. that came out this July.

Still have to ask: price?

Sad to say it’s still at around $1,000. Yup, that high. 🙁

So Apple’s really doing this are they? Going $1,000 high? We know, we know. It’s A LOT of money to invest on. That price is no joke. Best to keep it as safe as possible. Phew!

APPLE UPDATE:

Don’t forget that Apple is ALSO likely to release updated versions of the iPhone 7 (rumored to be called the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus). Fortunately Tech Armor already has these screens covered as the device hardware should remain the same. However, a new report indicates there may actually be a slight change to the body size (roughly 0.1mm on all sides). While this may seem insignificant, it could produce problems with existing iPhone 7 and 7 Plus cases fitting these new devices. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more!

When it comes to protecting devices, Tech Armor takes it seriously: so you can keep on playing! 😉

For your iPhone 8 needs, we got them all on one page! 😉

  • Screen Protector? We’ll be ready with our Ballistic Glass Screen Protectors! While our Matte-Antiglare and Privacy will be just around the corner!
  • Case? Most definitely having that too! Our FlexProtect Case will be here just in time to protect the device!

Whichever cable Apple decides to use, we’ve got them too! And you can easily connect it with the ActivePower Series Power banks, car chargers and our new car mounts too!

iPhone 8: Breakthrough leaks?

Special thanks go directly to Apple for this latest iPhone 8 rumor! 😉

Bad news is someone or maybe a whole team in Apple is in hot water after the web exploded with the leaks coming from themGood news is: we benefit from confirmed information! Read on to learn more. 😉

Apple leaked iPhone 8 data?

Well, Apple pushed out the firmware for the $349 HomePod surprisingly way ahead of its release in December. (Fun fact: it’ll run on iOS 11.0.2, currently two patches ahead of what’s available for the public.)

So far 2 developers took the opportunity to check out the code. Little did they know, they’ll be discovering gold nuggets on the iPhone 8.

What did they discover? “Pearl and D22”

Face Recognition may certainly be a go for the iPhone 8. Steve Troughton-Smith discovered code name “Pearl” along with the lines of: BKFaceDetectOperation, settooCloseToCamera and setTooFarFromCamera to name a few. With all of the rumored trouble Apple was having with integrating Touch ID into the iPhone 8 screen, it appears that face recognition will take its place.

He also found mentions it’ll be using infrared camera which is more user friendly since it works well in low-light situations, compared to ones used in Galaxy S8 and likes.

While Guilherme Rambo found code name “D22” and rendered the phone icon available for it:

Looks pretty familiar right? 😉

No new leaks on the price?

iPhone 8 Rumors: no more Touch ID?

iPhone 8 Rumors : no more Touch ID?

That might even just be the tip of the iceberg for the iPhone 8.

Down to the last few months before the new iPhone 8 is launched! Don’t worry, we’ve got a rundown so you’ll be in the know! 😉

Houston, we may have a problem. Maybe even a lot of them.

With an all-screen display a popular rumor, where will the Touch ID be placed on the iPhone 8?Bad news: there might not be one. Apple might drop it if they won’t be able to embed the fingerprint sensor in the screen.

Folks, there’s more… Known KGI securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts Apple won’t be able to embed the Touch ID in the screen. The feature may be removed totally on the next-generation phone. While his other predictions are quite the same with other rumors in the web. It may then be replaced by a facial recognition system — instead of placing it in the back like the Galaxy S8. An alleged device photo leak from Weibo also shows now Touch ID in the back.

There seems to be tense air too in the Apple HQ. Hardware is good to go but software is still on the rocks. The source said this caused panic to the California-tech giant’s team just this June.

The 3D camera sensor and the wireless/induction charging software are the problems still being fixed. If not fixed in time, it might either cause delay of phone launch or the softwares would be launched at a later time.

But there’s a bright side! The phone just might have a rear-facing 3D laser for AR apps and improved autofocus.

Price? Unfortunately, pricey is likely. Previous rumors said starting price will be around $1,000. Now, entry-level price may start at $1,200.

Though analysts say there may be a slight chance of getting it at a discounted price.

$1,000 is already a LOT. Now rumors have the iPhone 8 around $1,200?!

A $1,200 purchase is most certainly a lot…just to make sure you get an awesome gadget. Here at Tech Armor, we want to make sure you protect the best…with the best! 😉
